About

The Apostle of the Rosary! “If you are looking for salvation, propagate the Rosary. It is Mary’s promise: whoever propagates the Rosary will be saved.”  Bartolo Longo was an Italian who grew up in the Catholic Faith but upon going to the University that had been infected by the Enlightenment and many other extremely anti-clerical and anti- Catholic attitudes. Bartolo Longo was a Law student and had many friends who held these anti-Catholic beliefs and moreover even delved into the occult sciences. In short order, Bartolo was attending seances and other types of Satanic activities. After about a year from the time he had his first experience with spiritualism, he was a spiritual and psychological wreck and a physical mess and so he sought out an old professor/colleague who was still Catholic- one of the few. His friend took one look at him after he explained his troubles and told him that if he continued on this path, he was going to end up mad in an insane asylum and not only that but he would lose his soul and go to Hell! He implored him to renounce his past Satanic activity and sent him to a good holy Dominican priest who heard his confession and told him that he needed to come back every day and this priest would exorcise his mind every day of these thoughts and imaginations from Hell withholding absolution. This was in May of 1865. After one month, on the feast of the Sacred Hear on June 23, 1865, Bartolo Longo received absolution. After coming out from under this demonic influence, he knew zealous to help others like him and so he went to a seance and with a Miraculous Medal in his hands renounced the Devil and encouraged his former friends to leave the occult!

The Novena to Our Lady of Pompeii has two parts:

Part I

Three novenas of the prayers of the 15 mysteries of the Rosary in petition (3 x 9 days = 27 days)
Before the beginning of each 5 mysteries of the Rosary every day, we state our intention and we add: “This Rosary I pray for You, Queen of the Holy Rosary.”

During part 1, the petition, every day we pray 15 decades of the Rosary (Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries). After completing each 5 mysteries of the Rosary, we say every day:

“Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow white buds to remind thee of thy joys, each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery, each 10 bound together with my petition for aparticular grace. O Holy Queen, dispenser of God’s graces, and Mother of all who invoke thee, thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding. As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my petition; from thy bounty thou wilt give me the favour I so earnestly and trustingly seek. I despair of nothing that I ask of thee. Show thyself my Mother!”

After each of the 5 mysteries of the Rosary, during the whole novena, we pray: “Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us.”

Part II

Three novenas of the prayers of the 15 mysteries of the Rosary in thanksgiving (3 x 9 days = 27 days)

Before the beginning of each 5 mysteries of the Rosary, we say: “This Rosary I pray for You, Queen of the Holy Rosary.”

During part 2, the thanksgiving, every day we pray 15 decades of the Rosary (Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries), regardless of whether or not the request has been granted yet (without missing a day).

After completing each part of the Rosary, we say every day:

“Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I gratefully kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow white buds to remind thee of thy joys each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery; each ten bound together with my petition for a particular grace. O Holy Queen, Dispenser of God’s graces and Mother of all who invoke thee! Thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding. As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my thanksgiving; from thy bounty thou hast given me the favour I so earnestly and trustingly sought. I despaired not of what I asked of thee, and thou hast truly shown thyself my Mother.”

After each of the 5 mysteries of the Rosary, during the whole novena, we pray: “Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us.”
