The Portiuncola Indulgence is a special favor granted by the Pope to St. Francis at his request. …’ I beseech You to grant a full pardon of all sins to all who, having repented and confessed their sins, shall visit this church.” And Jesus said to him: “Francis, you ask much, but you are worthy of greater things, and greater things you shall have.”
Participating in the Franciscan life of the OFS brings rich and abundant blessings. Being part of a spiritual family means support and guidance that springs from natural family life
Saint Thomas Aquinas once visited Saint Bonaventure while he was engaged in writing the life of St Francis. He found Saint Bonaventure raised in ecstasy above the earth. Reverently he withdrew, saying to his companion: “Let us leave a saint to write about a saint.” St Bonaventure, pray for us!
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within thy wounds hide me. Suffer me not to be separated from thee. From the malicious enemy defend me. In the hour of my death call me and bid me come unto thee That with thy saints I may praise thee forever and ever. Amen.
Most holy body and blood of Christ, live in our hearts and minds at all times. You are the greatest gift from God and we praise you greatly!
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy; act in me, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy; strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy; guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen
The Secular Franciscan Order & St Francis of Assisi Newton Parish joined together for the Marian Procession yesterday at the Adelaide Showgrounds. It was wonderful to see you all.
This morning we celebrated School Mass In honour of the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. Together, the St Francis of Assisi school and parish provide opportunities for families to engage in Family Mass celebrations. We are blessed to share with the school a spirituality of the heart, with Jesus at the centre and with humility, simplicity, love, and mercy.
There are many famous Secular Franciscans in the world: King Louis IX, Thomas More, Saint John Vianney, St. Elizabeth of Hungary …. Recent article in the Southern Cross Magazine outlines the history of the order in its 800th anniversary year.
This morning the Secular Franciscan Order had the privilege to celebrate the Legacy of 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia… Over 200 years, Catholic schools have educated millions of Australian students and have grown to become the largest provider of schooling in Australia (outside government) …
This year we explored “Fratelli tutti” the third encyclical of Pope Francis, subtitled “on fraternity and social friendship”. We are all brothers and sisters and together we can build a better, more merciful, and peaceful world… And we are also grateful to Archbishop Patrick O’Regan for adding to the joyfulness of our special weekend retreat. Pax et Bonum!
Today, Sunday 25th April we celebrated the Good Shepherd Sunday World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We encourage everyone to pray for vocations to priesthood and consecrated life.

We hope you all have had a blessed and meaningful Divine Mercy Feast today that has led you into a greater understanding of God’s ongoing, unfathomable mercy and presence in your life. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion (Diary, 1320)
