Love the Lord your God with all your heart…

& ‘love your neighbour as yourself.’

“A sinner can become a saint, but a corrupt person can’t”

Pope Francis

The difference lies in recognizing oneself as a sinner before God, while “corruption comes along the path of the weakening of the heart” that leads away from the Lord. David is a saint, even if he was a sinner; the great and wise Solomon, on the other hand, was rejected by the Lord because he was corrupt. The heart of Solomon was not entirely with the Lord, his God, as the heart of David, his father, had been.

He explained that it was strange because we do not know that Solomon had committed great sins, he was always very balanced; while we know that David had had a difficult life, that he was a sinner. And yet David is a saint, while it is said of Solomon, who had been praised by the Lord for seeking wisdom rather than riches, that his heart was “turned away from the Lord.” How can we explain this? the Pope asked. It is because David, knowing that he had sinned, always asked for forgiveness, while Solomon, who was praised throughout the world, distanced himself from the Lord to follow other gods, but did not recognize his fault.

And here is the problem of “weakness of the heart.” When the heart begins to weaken, it is not like a situation of sin: you commit a sin, and you realize it immediately. “I have committed this sin”; it’s clear. Weakness of the heart is a slow journey, that slides along step by step, step by step, step by step… And Solomon, adorned in his glory, in his fame, began to take this road.

Paradoxically, “the clarity of a sin is better than weakness of the heart. The great king Solomon wound up corrupted: tranquilly corrupt, because his heart was weakened: And a man and a woman with weak hearts, or weakened hearts, is a defeated woman, a defeated man. This is the process of many Christians, of many of us. ‘No, I haven’t committed grave sins.’ But how is your heart? Is it strong? Does it stay faithful to the Lord, or does is it slowly sliding away?

The drama of the weakness of the heart can happen to all of us in life. What do we do then? The answer is vigilance: “Be watchful. Guard your heart. Be watchful. Every day, be careful about what is happening in your heart. He concluded: David was a saint. He was a sinner. A sinner, and he became a saint. Solomon was rejected because he was corrupt. Someone who is corrupt cannot become a saint. And one becomes corrupt by following the path of weakness of the heart. Vigilance! Guard your heart at all times. How is my heart doing? How is my relationship with the Lord? And enjoy the beauty and the joy of fidelity.

Prayer for families to Mary

by St. John Paul II

May the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, be also mother of the domestic church. Through her maternal help, may every Christian family truly become a little church which reflects and relives the mystery of the Church of Christ. May you who are the servant of the Lord, be our example of a humble and generous welcome of the will of God! You who are the mother of sorrows at the foot of the cross, be there to lighten our loads, and wipe away the tears of those afflicted by family difficulties. May Christ the Lord, King of the Universe, King of families, be present, as at Cana, in every Christian home, to communicate his light, joy, serenity, and strength. May every family generously add its share to the coming of his kingdom on earth. To Christ and to you, Mary, we entrust our families. Amen.

Prayer to Mary

by Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Give us a heart as beautiful, pure, and spotless as yours. A heart like yours, so full of love and humility. May we be able to receive Jesus as the Bread of Life, to love Him as you loved Him, to serve Him under the mistreated face of the poor. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Salutation Of The Blessed Virgin

By Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Hail, O Lady, holy Queen, Mary, holy Mother of God: you are the Virgin made church and the one chosen by the most holy Father in heaven whom he consecrated with his most holy beloved Son and the Holy Spirit the Paraclete, in whom there was and is all the fullness of grace and every good. Hail, His Palace! Hail, his Tabernacle! Hail, His Home! Hail, His Robe! Hail, His Servant! Hail, His Mother! And, hail all you holy virtues which through the grace and light of the Holy Spirit are poured into the hearts of the faithful, so that from their faithless state you may make them faithful to God.

Spiritual Adoption

Of Catholic Priests

O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; for your unfaithful and tepid priests; for your priests labouring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for your tempted priests; for your lonely and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests; for the souls of your priests in Purgatory. But above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me; the priests who’ve absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I’ve assisted and who’ve given me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who’ve taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, especially ____ O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen. (St. Therese’s prayer for priests “O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart”)

Padre Pio’s Spiritual Direction For Every Day

December 30th

In all things show yourself more worthy of your vocation as a Christian. Live in such a way that the heavenly Father can be glorified through you, as so many elect souls like yourself already do. Live in such a way that at every instant you can say with the apostle St. Paul, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” [1 Corinthians 11:1]. Live in such a way, I repeat, that the world can once again say, “Here is the Christ.” Oh! Please do not think that expression is exaggerated! Every Christian who is a true imitator and follower of the Nazarene can and should call himself or herself a second Christ, because each carries the imprint of the Lord in a very eminent way. Oh! If all the Christians lived out their vocation, this earth of exile would be transformed into a paradise. (To Raffaelina Cerase, March 30, 1915)

“God commands us to love him not to the extent that he deserves it because he knows our limitations and does not ask for something that we can not do, but he commands us to love him in proportion to our strength, our whole soul, our whole mind and all our heart”

For The Holy Souls in Purgatory

O Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere – for sinners in the Universal Church, for those in my own home and for those within my family. Amen.

Prayer which would release many souls from Purgatory each time is recited. Please remember to pray daily for the Poor Souls in Purgatory..

Divine Mercy Message

Lord Jesus, reveal to souls that Your mercy is greater than all the sins of the world. Draw us to Your Sacred Heart, so our miseries may disappear in the depths of Your mercy. Have mercy on us all.

#1485 My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of My goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed Myself to be nailed to the cross; for you I let My Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depths of My mercy. Do not argue with Me about your wretchedness. You will give Me pleasure if you hand over to Me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace

Letter of Saint Maximilian Kolbe

From the book “Forget Not Love: The Passion of Maximilian Kolbe”

Whenever you feel guilty, even if it is because you have consciously committed a sin, a serious sin, something you have kept doing many, many times, never let the devil deceive you by allowing him to discourage you. Whenever you feel guilty, offer all your guilt to the Immaculate, without analyzing it or examining it, as something that belongs to her…

My beloved, may every fall, even if it is serious and habitual sin, always become for us a small step toward a higher degree of perfection.

In fact, the only reason why the Immaculate permits us to fall is to cure us from our self-conceit, from our pride, to make us humble and thus make us docile to the divine graces.

The devil, instead, tries to inject in us discouragement and internal depression in those circumstances, which is, in fact, nothing else than our pride surfacing again.

If we knew the depth of our poverty, we would not be at all surprised by our falls, but rather astonished, and we would thank God, after sinning, for not allowing us to fall even deeper and still more frequently.

The Little Flowers of Saint Francis of Assisi, Chapter 35

How, on Christmas Eve, St. Clare being sick was miraculously carried to the Church of St. Francis and there heard the office.

Once St. Clare was grievously sick, so that she could not go at all to say the office in church with the other nuns; and when the festival of the Nativity of Christ was come, all the other nuns went to matins, and she remained abed, sad at heart because she was not able to go with the others and partake of that spiritual consolation. But Jesus Christ, her spouse, willing not to leave her thus disconsolate, caused her to be miraculously carried to the church of St. Francis and to be present at the whole office of matins and of the midnight Mass, and, besides this, to receive the Holy Communion and afterward to be carried back to her bed again. Now the nuns returned to St. Clare, when the office in S. Damiano was over, and said unto her: “O our mother, Sister Clare, what great consolation have we had, this holy Christmas Day! Would that it had been God’s will that you had been with us!” And St. Clare made answer: “Sisters mine and dearest daughters, I give thanks and praise to our blessed Lord Jesus Christ, because in every solemnity of this most holy night, and even more than you, have I had my part to the great comfort of my soul; because, by the intercessions of my father St. Francis and by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, I have been present in the church of my venerable father St. Francis, and with the ears of my body and of my mind have heard all the office and the music of the organs which was made there; and in the same place have I taken the most Holy Communion. Wherefore, for such a grace vouchsafed unto me do ye rejoice and give thanks unto our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Rebuild My Church

Following the Secular Franciscan Order: Humility

Humility was in the very name he gave his friars: The Friars Minor or “lesser brothers”. The minors of his day were the same as they are now – the little people, noble only in their goodness, not particularly distinguished in the eyes of the world. A Secular Franciscan today must continue this spirit. He or she may be high in the world of business, or science and may be endowed with great talents of mind, body or grace, but in the spirit of St Francis, the Secular Franciscan must fight against the infection of pride and the alluring temptation to act only to impress others and draw their flattery. He must remember that he is very little – in fact, nothing of himself. She must constantly recognise the sin within all sins: pride.

Summary: These, then, are some principles of humility:

– Our bodies and souls, the grace of God within us, all goodness, virtue, holiness are gifts of God.

– Your talents, money, car, job, family, friends, vocation, home, all are gifts of God.

– You are free to love or ignore God, but even your freedom is God’s continuing gift.

– You cannot judge others. You dare not judge others. You can only wish them goodness. You know your own sin, you’re not sure of theirs.

– Mental health, peace and happiness depend on the truth of God which is humility.

– Humility is truth. It is not wrong to admit that you have talent or ability but it is very wrong if you feel these belong to you. They are God’s.

God, Hear Me, I Implore You.

Poems by St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein)

God, hear me, I implore You,
And listen to my prayer.
You saw me stand before You
In darkness and despair.
O lift me, gracious Ruler,
Upon a rocky peak.
With hope I look to see You, God,
Your guiding hand I seek.
You are a sturdy tower
Resisting every foe.
I fear no stormy weather,
With You I have no woe.
You’ll offer me safekeeping
Within Your tent of love,
From danger I’m protected
By sheltering wings above.
My prayers You have heeded,
Your grace bestowed on me.
Who holds Your name in honor
Receives Your legacy.
So grant long life to those who
Devote themselves to You,
Year after year preserve them
And send Your blessings too.
Before the face of Heaven
Let them forever be!
For God’s unending mercy
Lasts to eternity.
And so I’ll sing a melody
Just as I promised You,
My praise a gift to You shall be
Day after day anew.

“It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do so without the Holy Mass.”

John Paul II’s Homily

June 4, 1997

I have repeated it many times – and I am sure of it – that the greatest danger that threatens peace today is abortion. If a mother is allowed to kill her own child, what can stop you and me, lest we kill each other? The only one who has the right to take life is the one who created it. No one else has that right: no mother, no father, no doctor, no agency, no conference. (…) I am terrified by the thought of all those who kill their own conscience, to be able to have an abortion. After death, we will face God, the Giver of life. Who will take responsibility before God for millions and millions of children who have not been given a chance to live and feel loved? (…) A child is the most beautiful gift for a family and a nation. Never no let us reject this gift of God.

St Faustina Diary

Divine Mercy Messages

#1146 “Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask”

#1661-1662 I spent the whole day in thanksgiving, and gratitude kept flooding my soul. O my God, how good You are, how great is Your mercy! You visit me with so many graces, me who am a most wretched speck of dust. Prostrating myself at Your feet, O Lord, I confess with a sincere heart that I have done nothing to deserve even the least of Your graces. It is in Your infinite goodness that You give Yourself to me so generously. Therefore, the greater the graces which my heart receives, the deeper it plunges itself in humility. O Christ, suffering for You is the delight of my heart and my soul. Prolong my sufferings to infinity, that I may give You a proof of my love. I accept everything that Your hand will hold out to me. Your love, Jesus, is enough for me. I will glorify You in abandonment and darkness, in agony and fear, in pain and bitterness, in anguish of spirit and grief of heart. In all things may You be blessed. My heart is so detached from the earth, that You Yourself are enough for me. There is no longer any moment in my life for self concern.

#742 I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbours always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbour: the first — by deed, the second — by word, the third — by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy.

#1317 Many souls … are often worried because they do not have the material means with which to carry out an act of mercy. Yet spiritual mercy, which requires neither permissions nor storehouses, is much more meritorious and is within the grasp of every soul. If a soul does not exercise mercy somehow or other, it will not obtain My mercy on the day of judgment. Oh, if only souls knew how to gather eternal treasure for themselves, they would not be judged, for they would forestall My judgment with their mercy

“Let us not close our hearts, let us not lose confidence, let us never give up. There are no situations which God cannot change, there is no sin which He cannot Forgive if only we open ourselves to Him”

Pope Francis

Totus Tuus Prayer

by St Maximilian Kolbe

O Immaculate Conception, Mary, my Mother, live in me, act in me, speak in and through me. Think your thoughts in my mind, love through my heart. Give me your own dispositions and feelings. Teach, lead and guide me to Jesus. Correct, enlighten and expand my entire personality and life. Replace me with yourself. Incline me to constant adoration and thanksgiving; pray in and through me. Let me live in you and keep me in this union always. Amen.

“Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive. Simply because if we do not desire, we will be closed to receiving.

Prayer to Mary

by St. Louis de Montfort

O Mary, my Queen,
I cast myself in the arms of your mercy.
I place my soul and body
in your blessed care
and under your special protection
from this world.
I entrust to you all my hopes and consolations,
all my anguish and misery,
my life and the end of my life.
Through your most holy intercession
and through your merits,
grant that all my works may be directed and carried out
in accord with your will
and the will of your divine Son.
Amen.

Prayer to the sleeping St. Joseph

Devotion

Oh St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving Fathers. Oh St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.Press him in my name and kiss his fine head for me and ask him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for me and my loved ones. Amen

The Rosary of the Chaplet of Tears

“Through this rosary the devil will be subdued and the power of Hell will be destroyed. Prepare yourself for this great combat.”

Beginning prayer: Start with Our Father and Hail Mary and then, Crucified Jesus, prostrate at Your feet, we offer You the tears of the Mother who, with love full of devotion and sympathy, accompanied You on Your painful way to Calvary. Grant, O Good Master, that we take to heart the lessons which the tears of Your Most Holy Mother have taught us, so that we may fulfill Your Holy Will on earth and become worthy to praise and bless You in heaven for all eternity. Amen.

Large beads: Instead of the “Our Father” say: v. O Jesus, look upon the tears of the Mother who loved You most while on earth, r. And who loves You so ardently in heaven.

Small beads: Instead of the “Hail Mary” say: v. O Jesus hear our petitions, r. For the sake of the tears shed by Your dearest Mother.

At the end: Jesus, look upon the tears of the Mother who loved You most while on earth, and who loves You so ardently in heaven (x3)

Concluding prayer: O Mary, Mother of Love, of Sorrows and of Mercy, we beg You, join Your prayers with ours so that Jesus, Your Divine Son to whom we turn, will graciously hear our petitions for the sake of Your maternal tears, and, together with the graces we implore, grant us finally the reward of eternal life. Amen.
With Your tears, O sorrowful Mother, destroy the dominion of Satan. Through Your divine tenderness, O bound and fettered Jesus, defend the world from the errors which threaten it. Amen.

Padre Pio’s Letters

To Maria Gargani, September 4, 1916

Temptation spares no elect soul. It did not spare the Apostle to the Gentiles, who, after having been taken up into paradise while he was still alive, underwent such a trial that Satan almost succeeded in casting him down. My God! Who can read his writing without feeling the blood run cold in their veins?! How many tears, how many sighs, how many groans, how many prayers did this holy apostle not lift up to the Lord to ask him to remove this very painful trial from him! But how did Jesus answer? “My grace is sufficient for you,” and “My power is made perfect in weakness” [2 Corinthians 12:9].

Padre Pio’s Letters

” Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance… The way to Christ is first through humility, second through humility, third through humility”

“St Augustine

The Surrender Novena

The words which Jesus spoke to Fr. Don Dolindo

“I perform miracles in proportion to your full surrender to me and to your not thinking of yourselves. I sow treasure troves of graces when you are in the deepest poverty. No person of reason, no thinker, has ever performed miracles, not even among the saints. He does divine works whosoever surrenders to God. So don’t think about it any more, because your mind is acute and for you it is very hard to see evil and to trust in me and to not think of yourself. Do this for all your needs, do this all of you and you will see great continual silent miracles. I will take care of things, I promise this to you.”

Prostration

Lying face down on the ground

Prostration (lying face down on the ground) is a sign of the deepest adoration and penance. It is even greater self-humiliation before the Majesty of God than kneeling. Lying face down on the ground symbolizes the deepest self-humiliation and it’s the strongest prayer. Better than words, it expresses a total dedication to God and a sense of one’s own weakness. It is a prayer that removes the consequences of our sins, through total humility in repentance and repentance and repentance. It is the most sought-after treasure at all healing masses, retreats, and shrines.

The incredible power and effectiveness of this prayer was manifested during the exorcism, when the priests and the helpers in this service, after many hours of struggling with the evil spirit, were completely exhausted. The priest left the room, and lay face down on the ground before the Blessed Sacrament and began to apologize for the sins of the exorcised girl, her parents and ancestors. The effect was immediate. The evil spirit began to howl and scream for it to stop. In an instant, the woman was completely freed.
